A new care home for New Milton

On behalf of Redland Care Group, HPP has obtained planning permission for the demolition of the existing building and the erection of a new 57 bedroomed care home with associated vehicular access, parking and landscaping.

The proposed scheme initially attracted objection from the Town Council and a number of local residents which related to issues concerning the proposed design, highways, drainage, residential amenity, trees and ecology. HPP entered into lengthy negotiations with the LPA and were able to resolve these concerns ensuring a positive officer recommendation at Committee.

The approved scheme is of a low impact use and redevelops the site in a manner which will enhance the local character and reflect the high quality environment for residents together with a vibrant sub-urban dialogue with little impact on neighbouring properties and transport links.

During the preparation of the planning application, HPP identified that there was an inherent need for quality care home places within the District, and this state-of-the-art facility in an attractive setting should fulfil its intended role for many years to come. The internal communal spaces are flexible in their use and the size of the bedrooms will permit a wide range of care to be offered. This is augmented by each floor being self-contained to permit differing care to be offered within the building if desired.
