HPP secures permission for 160 dwellings at Bampton in West Oxfordshire
18 January 2016 | Planning Applications
Reserved matters approval has been secured for 160 dwellings at New Road Bampton in West Oxfordshire. Following HPPs presentation at committee, unanimous support for the application was given by members. The Parish Council had objected but primarily on the grounds that the applicant (CALA Homes) had sought to reduce the amount of affordable housing from 50% to 40% which HPP and CALA had previously agreed with the LPA due to changing circumstances in the delivery and tenure of affordable being proposed.
Members agreed that the proposal represented an efficient use of land, provided an appropriate mix of housing to reflect local demand and provided a safe and secure environment through careful layout. Furthermore, members concluded that the proposal was of a sensitive design ensuring due consideration had been given to the local vernacular which sits harmoniously within the wider context of Bampton. The proposal therefore represented a sustainable form of development.
