The Planning Awards celebrate outstanding achievement in planning work by local authorities, consultants, developers, lawyers, voluntary and neighbourhood groups and all the other key players in the planning system.
The Planning Awards were launched in June 2014 by Planning Magazine and Planning Resource as a means of honouring the best work being in the industry today.
HPP had fierce competition; up against significantly larger multidisciplinary companies, so we were pleased to receive the Highly Commended Award.

Members of South Bedfordshire Planning Committee have approved a development of up to 62 dwellings in Green Belt subject to prior consultation with the Secretary Of State. The site forms an undeveloped parcel of land comprising 3.18 ha on the edge of Houghton Regis.
HPP managed the application on behalf of Beechcroft which involved a considerable amount of public participation throughout the application process.
These proposals show how land to the rear of the High Street could be developed for retirement apartments for people aged 55 and over and some affordable housing. The proposals also include parking provision for some of the existing businesses on the High Street that back on to the site and parking for the John Cumber Hall.

The Government announced on 30th April 2014 that it will be consulting this summer on plans to make changes to Permitted Development Rights (PD). LPAs are to be given more power to control the number of betting shops opening in their area. Bookies who want to open new shops will have to submit a planning application allowing LPAs to refuse such applications and prevent new betting shops opening in their area.
