HPP Staff treated to a Christmas trip to Stockholm

30 November -0001 |

As readers may be aware, each year the staff at HPP are treated to a surprise trip abroad for two days. Staff do not know of the destination until they reach the airport on the morning of departure. This year the destination was Stockholm. The trip commenced with a visit to the Ice Bar which warmed up the team in preparation for the evening meal in the Grill Restaurant. Throughout the evening imaginative games and competitions were on going, (this year the emphasis was on different types of underwear!) all helped along with the infusion of alcohol.

Staff Mountain Biking Day

30 November -0001 |

The staff at Hunter Page Planning had a well-earned break from their usual planning related business to spend an exhilarating day in the Forest of Dean on mountain bikes. For some, this was a first time experience, however this lack of experience was not at all evident as they raced down technical hills littered by tree roots and rocks, climbed steep hills and rode through streams like true professional riders! Despite a couple of falls resulting in minor bruising and scratches, a fantastic day was had by all.

A helping hand for 1st time buyers

30 November -0001 |

The Prime Minister has launched a new scheme that will offer 100,000 first-time buyers new homes with a 20% discount, as part of a major push to help people onto the housing ladder.

Registration is now open for aspiring home owners to register their interest in buying via the Starter Home initiative. Many of the country?s leading house builders and councils are already looking at sites that could be used for new homes.

The government is currently setting out how the scheme will work with a change to the planning system to free under-used or unviable brownfield land from planning costs and levies in return for a below market value sale price on the homes built on the site.

Developers and councils are being asked to respond to the proposals to ensure the changes will unlock a range of sites across the country.

100,000 homes will be available to first time buyers under 40 as part of the Starter Homes initiative.

The scheme intends to unlock under-used or unviable commercial or industrial sites not currently identified for housing.

Aspiring homeowners can now register their interest at www.starter-home.co.uk
